A Turbo version of Porsche's 998-generation 911 is still about a year away. That's based on the say-so of our spy photographers at Carparazzi, who have snapped the vehicle pictured here while it underwent testing at the Nurburgring.
The photographers predict the high-performance 911 will make its debut in the northern hemisphere summer next year. It's summer in Europe now, so that's around a year away.
When the Turbo follows its lesser 911 siblings into the market, it will offer buyers with the readies 550hp to play with (around 410kW).
Although the disguised car looks much like other 911 pre-production cars of the 998 generation Porsche has been testing at the Nurburgring for years, Carparazzi has drawn our attention to wider wheel arch flares, air intakes in the rear quarter panels to accommodate intercoolers and exhaust pipes integrated in the rear bumper. This vehicle is definitely the Turbo version of the 998.
