SPY PICS: Ford Everest in production sheetmetal

First look at new seven-seat SUV, minus the tacky Territory add-on panels
Ford has moved to a new phase of its development project for the Everest SUV, as these Automedia images show.
The seven-seater in mule guise has been caught out in the open on numerous occasions, wrapped up in a mix of Ranger front panels and hacked-up Territory bodywork at the rear. Now, however, the Everest has been snapped in what will likely be its final form for production.
Under the chequerboard cladding, the pre-production vehicle being tested appears very close to the concept car revealed in Sydney last year, and subsequently confirmed for production in Thailand – the most likely source for Australian-spec cars when the Everest goes on sale here in 2015.
Expect a premium specification for the Everest (with the 3.2-litre five-cylinder diesel and automatic transmission likely), with the SUV ditching the Ranger's leaf-sprung live rear axle for a coil-sprung system. At least two trim levels are anticipated for the Everest, to compete with the Holden Colorado 7, Isuzu MUX, Mitsubishi Challenger and Toyota Prado. And the market niche these vehicles occupy is set to grow again, with the arrival of a rumoured new seven-seater from Nissan, based on the next-gen Navara
