SPY PICS: Jag concept in name only?
Forget about the 'C' -- Jaguar's C-XF Detroit showstopper is coming to a road near youUnveiled as the C-XF concept in Detroit early this month, it now seems likely that what you see is (largely) what you will get when the Jaguar XF goes into production in early 2008.
CarPoint/Carsales' automotive espionage partner Carparazzi has captured shots of an early prototype of a "production-intent" Jaguar XF rolling on the roads near the marque's engineering centre in Whitely near Coventry in the UK's Midlands.
And there's very little that doesn't gel with the Detroit concept (click
). Certainly there has been a toning-down of certain design elements for the production version -- the taillights are different, as well as details like the traditional door pulls and rear-view mirrors -- but the car's striking rectangular grille, its heavily raked A-pillar and other surfacing details are consistent with the show car.The spy-shots of the XF mule do, however, indicate that the production car will have a more traditional (ie: less coupe-like) roofline which should help with rear headroom.
Customer deliveries of the new Jaguar XF will commence globally in first quarter 2008 and in Australia later that year.
