SPY PICS: Latest peep at Jeep Wrangler front-end
Closer look at Jeep's next Wrangler reveals evolutionary styling direction for traditional grilleIt's not that long since we saw a vastly over-camouflaged Jeep Wrangler at company HQ in Auburn Hills, Michigan, but this new set of spy photos shot in Death Valley, California, shows a little more of the new Jeep's front-end.
Exactly what? Well, we now get to take a gander at the grille, which shows some new curvature, lending a softer and more-aero shape to suggest there will be other changes too – maybe a general clean-up such as flush integrations of the bumper and front guards.
An expected economy-oriented addition to the Wrangler is the rumoured 220kW 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol "Hurricane" engine that will fit into the range alongside the 209kW/347Nm 3.6-litre Pentastar V6. It's not known whether the Hurricane engine is related to the normally-aspirated 130kW/229Nm 2.4-litre four-cylinder seen in the Jeep Cherokee.
We've heard no mention of Jeep's current 147kW/460Nm 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel, but will assume that will continue in Australia. There are also rumours of a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel that will bring the oil-fired power so far denied to US customers. It's likely to be the same 184kW/570Nm engine currently available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
