SPY PICS: Porsche facelifts 911 for 2015

Zuffenhausen hasn't finished rolling out the current series of 911, but there's already an update coming
Porsche's most revered model, the 911, is also the most enduring car in the prestige brand's product portfolio.
It dates back to the early 1960s, but retains a timeless air about it. That's because Porsche is endlessly tweaking and massaging the rear-engined sports car to keep it vital and vigorous. And unlike other icons celebrating middle age, life is actually speeding up for the 911 – now in its 991 generation first unveiled in 2011 at Frankfurt.
According to the master spy photographers at Automedia, whose work you can see on this page, the mid-life refresh for 991 is due in 2015 – just four years after the current car's public debut.
Pictured undergoing cold weather testing are the facelifted 911 Carrera and Turbo variants. Beneath the camouflage there is a hint of revised air intakes, larger tail lights and new daytime running lights.
It's the detail changes that lead the Automedia snappers to suggest this is not the current car and not a mule for a future generation model. No word on mechanicals, but don't be surprised if the facelift introduces four-cylinder power or other eco-friendly measures to kerb emissions and reduce fuel consumption.
