SPY PICS: Porsche Macan

Quick-witted snappers capture photos of Porsche's new small SUV, virtually stripped of disguise
Normally, with spy photos, it’s a case of spot the car beneath the camouflage.
With these Automedia pics of Porsche’s upcoming, sub-Cayenne Macan, it’s a matter of spot the camouflage.
Snapped as it departed a car park somewhere in Germany, the Audi Q5 based compact SUV appears to be revealed in its final form, with only a bit of work around the tail lights to show a half-hearted attempt at any form of disguise.
Essentially, the photos confirm our speculation about the Macan’s style with the previous round of spy pics in January this year.
The Macan’s style is clearly heavily influenced by the bigger Cayenne SUV, with similar rounded themes and a Porsche-signature sloping bonnet underlaid by a massive black air intake.
The curvaceous tail lights are perhaps the only area in which the final product may differ from this test mule.
Macan powerplants, as reported previously, are expected to borrow from the Audi parts bin, specced-up to suit Porsche expectations, from a 2.0-litre turbo four right up to a supercharged petrol V6 brandishing as much as 260kW. There’s also the chance of a diesel, as well as a hybrid.
As we reported in January, the Macan looks well set to fit with Porsche’s planned introductory appearance at the Detroit motor show in November this year, ahead of the global media launch expected in February 2014. Australian introduction is also expected in 2014, when the compact SUV should become Porsche’s biggest-selling model.
