SPY PICS: Shedding more light on 1 Series Cabrio

A BMW driver is caught enjoying the northern hemisphere summer in a drop-top '1'

Just when you thought all the spy photographers had negotiated a 99-year lease at the Nurburgring, one of our homeless nomads from Carparazzi snapped this roof-down 1 Series Cabrio out on the public roads around Munich.

We first presented the 1 Series Cabrio a month ago (more here). These latest pictures don't reveal much more than the earlier pics, but it is clear that the new Cabrio will look better with the roof folded than with it raised.

The disguise insinuates something about the car's finer details. Bumper covers may be deeper and more like a full airdam than those fitted to the standard hatch. Note the recess for the rear registration plate is plainly set within a matching panel there to hide crease lines and panel work for the boot lid.

With a windscreen and 'A' pillar set-up like the 1 Series coupe's (more here), the Cabrio is likely to be the best looking 1 Series variant…just keep the roof folded.

According to Carparazzi, the 1 Series Cabrio will go in to production for a 2008 release and probably all the current 1 Series drivetrain options will be available for the Cabrio, including the diesel engine.
