A fuel pump recall affecting Suzuki Jimny 4x4s in Queensland and northern New South Wales has been extended to the rest of the country, with Suzuki Australia issuing a separate notice this week to rectify the issue.
Covering the same fault as the Queensland recall (which is handled by a different distributor) and applying to another 726 vehicles – all produced between 2018 and 2019 – the Suzuki Australia notice specifies the fuel pump impeller may swell and cause the pump to stop working.
If this were to happen while driving, it would increase the likelihood of a crash and pose a serious risk to vehicle occupants and other road users.
“Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Suzuki Australia in writing, or they can contact their nearest Suzuki dealer to schedule an appointment to have the fuel pump replaced, free of charge,” the company said via the official recall notice available via the Vehicle Recalls database.
Those not wanting to wait for the correspondence can check their vehicle’s inclusion in the VIN list attached to the notice online.
The national recall takes the total number of affected Jimny 4x4s to 1012.
