Ford Australia is calling on the public to help it promote the new-generation 2022 Ford Ranger, and the best bit is you could get paid for it.
Lucky Break Creative has put out a casting call for everyday Aussies – particularly those in South Australia, the Northern Territory, Tasmania and Western Australia – to test-drive the new Ford Ranger and appear in subsequent promotional materials.
According to official casting call, the production team is on the lookout for “surfers, cattle farmers, adventure photographers, construction workers, croc wranglers, star gazers, trapeze flyers, soccer mums, dance troupe dads, remote community legends, desert warriors and everything beyond and in between” to tell their story and explain how the next-gen Ford Ranger “can help you do amazing things”.
“We want to hear from people from everywhere and all terrains… this is about putting the Next-Generation Ford Ranger to test on your roads, sand dunes, dirt tracks, river crossings and rock piles!” the call continues.
Successful applicants will receive a new Ranger for a couple of days to do whatever it is they’d do with a new-generation pick-up truck, including a day or so of video shooting.
More than just a supplied car and published cameo, successful participants could earn up to $4500 for their time and efforts, with the shoots to take place nationally between July 25 and September 2.
Interest parties will need to create an account with Reality Store in order to apply and then complete a nine-step application process comprising everything from background details through to supporting images and videos of themselves, what they do and their location.
“We’re in the planning stages for a variety of marketing campaigns for next-generation Ranger, and are seeking people to take part all over the country,” a Ford Australia spokesperson told carsales.
“We invite people to put their name forward if they would like to take part – we’re looking for everyday Australians to experience the next-generation Ranger in their own, authentic environments.”
The Blue Oval also stipulated you don’t need to be an existing owner to apply or take part.
The first batch of Rangers are about to make their way to local Ford dealerships (on July 11) ahead of first customer deliveries and the tsunami of test drives that are expected to follow.
More than 19,000 orders for the new Ranger, Ranger Raptor and Ford Everest have been received by Ford dealers so far.
Combined with production delays, waiting times for those ordering high-end variants like the Ranger Wildtrak V6, Ranger Raptor and Everest Platinum now have blown out beyond seven months and, in some cases, more than nine months.
