Subaru has announced it will debut its Advanced Tourer Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show, joining the highly anticipated BRZ sports coupe.
Said to couple superior driving performance with utility, the Advanced Tourer Concept’s expressive design plays host to a turbocharged and direct injected 1.6-litre four-cylinder Boxer engine, continuously variable transmission and Subaru’s trademark symmetrical all-wheel drive.
Advanced Tourer Concept’s petrol engine is supported by a hybrid (electric) motor Subaru says is developed to harmonise with its AWD technology, assisting propulsion at start up and low speeds. When decelerating, the regenerating mechanism uses the motor as a generator, supplementing the lithium-ion battery’s supply.
Its cabin is topped by a panoramic glass roof that the car’s designers say enhances the feel of interior spaciousness; while a colour monitor set into the steering wheel allows line-of-sight access to satellite navigation, television and internet services.
The Advanced Tourer Concept is also equipped with Subaru’s advanced EyeSight driver assist system.
The 42nd Tokyo International Motor Show begins on December 2.
