
The man who is the face of Toyota in Australia has announced that he will leave the company's employ with effect from June 30.
John Conomos, Toyota's Chairman Emeritus and Principal Policy Advisor, has worked within the automotive industry for 40 years, 27 of them with Toyota. During his time with the company, he has seen Toyota reach the point of selling nearly a quarter of a million cars domestically and exporting almost 100,000 vehicles each year. For his efforts, he was awarded the Order of Australia in 2005.
"John's retirement from Toyota marks the end of an amazing era for the Australian industry," says Max Yasuda, President of Toyota Australia.
"We appreciate his valuable expertise, support and dedication through many challenging times."
As well as departing from his current role, Conomos is also vacating positions he holds on the Board of Directors for Sydney City Toyota, Toyota Financial Services and the Board of Toyota New Zealand, but will continue working as Chairman of Hino Motor Sales Australia Ltd.
