Toyota means business but includes privates

It's sale time for Australia's best-selling brand - and it's target private buyers to boot

As the end of the 08/09 financial year approaches, Toyota has launched its traditional 'Toyota Means Business' sales event to clear models from across its range. Unlike previous years that have focused on commercial and fleet buyers, however, this year's Toyota Means Business sale will give private customers a chance to benefit as well.

The special edition Camry Touring and Aurion Touring along with the Yaris and Corolla will all be included in this year's retail event. Ahead of the launch of the new Prius, the current range will also be included in the sale. Traditional favourites of commercial and fleet buyers won't be left out, however, with the HiLux Workmate among the list of sales stock.

Gary Knight, Toyota Australia's manager of retail advertising national marketing, told the Carsales Network that the end of financial year period is an important time for both private and commercial buyers.

"It means different things to different people," Knight said.

Unlike the 'Toyota-a-thon' sale earlier this year that focused on clearing '08 plated models, Knight says the current event will be "the best time for consumers to buy a '09 plated vehicle".

Knight said Toyota's next sales event is unlikely before November.

The decision by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to implement its 'Clarity in Pricing' legislation hasn't been a problem for Toyota because most of the advertised deals are driveaway prices.

Among the offers is the Prius 'Peace of Mind' package that adds 12 months comprehensive Toyota Insurance, an extended warranty and roadside assistance to the mix.

Other deals include three-door manual Yaris from $15,990 and Corolla from $21,990.
