Toyota mulls over Ford decision

But manufacturing at Altona to continue in the context of a 'five-year transformation' plan
Toyota has issued a statement following the announcement today that Ford will cease all local manufacturing with effect from 2016. 
Recognising that the time is not right for triumphalism or gloating, Toyota's response has been subdued and sympathetic to Ford's position. 
Without dwelling on the loss of jobs at Ford or the impact on its own cost of goods sold, Toyota has conveyed a note of cautious optimism in its statement, which is reproduced below.
