Toyota Australia has continued its run of updates to its core model range with the 2023 Toyota RAV4 now fitted with a host of new features, albeit at a price.
New for MY23 is Toyota’s latest infotainment system, an upgraded driver’s display, Toyota Connected Services, over-the-air (OTA) update compatibility, an expanded and improved array of active safety features and some minor equipment upgrades.
These additions bring with them higher prices for Toyota’s popular mid-size SUV – the biggest-selling SUV in Australia – that range from $1150 to $2820, depending on the variant.
Due to reach showrooms during December, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 now starts from $36,550 plus on-road costs in GX 2WD form (+$1150) and tops out at $55,150 for the flagship Edge AWD hybrid (+$2450).

As seen on the recent Toyota Corolla update, the RAV4’s new infotainment system is presented to occupants via either an 8.0-inch (GX, GXL) or 10.5-inch (XSE up) touch-screen and offers users improved functionality, graphics, wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto.
The new interface is complemented by an enlarged 7.0-inch driver’s display (up from 4.2”) on the GX and GXL, whereas XSE, Cruiser and Edge models score a new configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Toyota Connected Services suite provides owners with remote vehicle supervision, emergency assistance and the ability to update vehicle software over-the-air.
All MY23 RAV4 models come with cloud-based satellite navigation as standard, with the higher grades also scoring a new-look embedded navigation system.
It’s a similar story with the active safety suite and especially the pre-collision system which has been expanded to detect oncoming vehicles when turning right at an intersection as well as oncoming pedestrians on either side of an intersection, providing audible warnings and automatic braking if required.
Emergency steering assist is also now fitted, along with dynamic guidelines for the sharpened reversing camera and a new underbody view for Cruiser and Edge models’ panoramic view monitor.
Other changes include a faster opening and closing powered tailgate where fitted, the replacement of most cabin USB ports with USB-C outlets, white lighting for the switches and interior lamps, upgraded microphones for the voice recognition system and the addition of LED projector headlights on petrol Edge models.
The 2023 RAV4’s exterior colour palette will continue to comprise nine finishes, with Frosted White replacing Crystal Pearl.
There’s still no sign of a sporty Toyota RAV4 GR Sport model in the range, as found overseas.
