Toyota Australia has officially taken the covers off its first GEN3 Supercar at Bathurst, with spectators offered a close-up look at the GR Supra set to take on the pinnacle of Aussie motorsport.
But there’s a twist.
Fittingly dubbed the ‘Supracar’, Toyota will race a V8-powered version of the car you see here in the Supercars category with a five-year program that kicks off in 2026.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see the real GEN3 GR Supra Supercar because this full-size ‘Supracar’ is made of clay.
Even still, the full-scale model on show at this year’s Bathurst 1000 clearly shows its track-ready intentions, with a big front splitter, wide haunches, and massive Supercar wing.
Half clay and half satin black with a smattering of Gazoo Racing decals, the latest-gen Supra’s ‘A90’ model code is plastered around the glasswork, while ‘purposeful airflow management’ (to be validated by aero testing) is evident across its curvaceous silhouette and aggressive body work.
Nic Hogios, senior manager of Toyota Design Australia said the design team amped up the model significantly, to give fans a fresh perspective of GR Supra performance.
“We are enthusiasts first and foremost, and the GR Supra Supercar is the kind of project we dream about working on,” said Hogios.
“We can’t wait to see it competing and winning in Supercars, including right here at Bathurst,” he said.
