The updated 2024 Kia Stonic will arrive in local showrooms within the next fortnight as the Korean brand’s entry-level small SUV moves to an all-turbo engine line-up.
Confirmed by Kia Australia to now start from $25,460 plus on-road costs in base S guise, the Stonic’s entry price has risen $3170 compared to the previous range, which offered a 74kW/133Nm 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine and six-speed manual and automatic in low and mid-series model grades.
That combination has now been deleted, leaving the stronger 74kW/172Nm 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine and seven-speed dual-clutch auto from the flagship GT-Line to be employed across the new MY25 range.
The mid-range Sport now starts at $28,590 plus ORCs (+$1800) while the GT-Line opens from $31,780 plus ORCs (+$990).
New orders for the S and Sport were closed indefinitely late last year as Kia Australia grappled with lengthy delivery times for what’s now clear was the final production run of those 1.4-litre models.
Kia has not yet detailed full specifications for the updated Stonic range, but it’s expected that all model grades will inherit blind spot monitoring with collision avoidance assist.
Other minor updates should include 15-inch alloys for the S, climate control, privacy glass and automatic wipers for the Sport and heated front seats for the GT-Line.
An official announcement with further details is expected in the coming days.
