Thus far Australia has been treated to the Hyundai i30 N hatch, Fastback and Sedan – we didn’t even get the normal i30 Fastback variants, yet we got the N.
But there’s one body style Hyundai N is yet to capitalise on: the wagon.
Offered exclusively in Europe (where it’s built), the i30 Wagon is available in the obligatory garden-variety trims as well as the spoofier N-Line forms which throw an added hint of athleticism and style into the mix.
It’s no secret we love fast wagons here at carsales, and that’s largely how/why these stunning renders of a widebody Hyundai i30 N Wagon – i30 Wagon N? – caught our eye on Instagram this week, mocked-up and published by rostislav_prokop.
Sitting low to the ground in the obligatory Performance Blue with red accents, the imagined performance five-door immediately had us drooling as the hypothetical combination of the i30 N’s attitude and engagement paired with a longer wheelbase and more room (if not the widebody).
Could this be the ultimate mainstream one-car-garage beastie?
Cupra and Skoda would probably argue the point with their respective Leon VZx Sportstourer (coming) and Octavia RS Wagon (here), but this would still cut it awfully close.
With the PD-generation i30 set for retirement within the next few years it’s highly unlikely we’ll ever get to see such a unicorn – imagine if it had a manual – come to fruition, but there’s nothing wrong with a bit of wishful thinking now and again or asking, ‘what if?’
