2020 Renault Koleos facelift revealed
French SUV bears reworked styling, tech updates and two new diesel enginesRenault has updated its Koleos mid-size SUV for 2020, with new looks, new tech and uprated engines.
The revised line-up will reach Australian showrooms from the end of the year, officials have confirmed, however it appears that two new diesel engines offered overseas will not be taken.
The Koleos is headlined by new technology and reworked styling inside and out.
Subtle exterior revisions include a new front bumper with a full-width piece of chrome and new skid plate element. Further back, the 2020 Koleos matches the front with more chrome and a more pronounced rear diffuser, along with a choice of new 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs.
The interior has received a light refresh courtesy of extendable front seat cushions (driver’s seat with massage function), a reclining rear bench and more soft-touch materials aimed at elevating the cabin ambience.
Infotainment is once again controlled via a 7.0-inch landscape or 8.7-inch portrait centre display (depending on variant) that utilise Renault’s R-Link software, now Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatible. Renault has relocated the USB points to a handier spot, now immediately in front of the gear shifter.
On the safety front, the Koleos’ autonomous emergency braking (AEB) function has been extended to pedestrian detection in urban situations.
The 2019 Renault Koleos will be offered with a choice of two new diesel engines in the UK: a 110kW/340Nm 1.8-litre four-cylinder that drives the front wheels, and a 140kW/380Nm 1.9-litre in all-wheel drive guise.
Tested under the new WLTP regime, the new oilers are said to be more efficient while offering lower emissions and added performance. In either case, the Koleos drives through a CVT automatic transmissions.
Renault Australia has indicated it will stick with a tried-and-tested line-up comprising a 126kW/226Nm 2.5-litre atmo petrol four-cylinder and a 130kW/380Nm 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder.
