2024 Peugeot E-308 confirmed for Australia

Zero-emission hatch and Peugeot E-Expert electric van will arrive in the new financial year, likely with a big asking price

Peugeot Australia has confirmed the battery-powered Peugeot E-308 hatchback for our market and locked in timing for the E-Expert electric commercial van, with both models expected to arrive here in the second half of this year.

Pricing and specification details yet to be announced for either model, but Peugeot has opened expressions of interest for those tempted by a zero-emissions small car or mid-size van – neither of which is likely to come cheap.

Given the Peugeot 308 GT Sport PHEV starts from a hefty $64,990 plus on-road costs, there’s every chance the EV version will encroach on the $70,000 mark – or possibly even exceed it.

A similar figure is likely for the E-Expert, based on the $59,990 starting figure of the smaller E-Partner.

“Expanding upon Peugeot’s existing electric range in Australia, which currently includes the E-2008 SUV and the E-Partner Van, the introduction of the E-308 Hatch and E-Expert van marks a significant milestone in the brand's electrification journey and offers more choice for Australian consumers,” said Peugeot Australia today.

The E-308 is powered by a single 115kW/260Nm electric motor attached to its front axle and draws current from a 54kWh lithium-ion battery pack, gifting it a WLTP driving range of about 400km.

Rivals for the battery-electric hatch will include the Nissan LEAF, MG4, GWM Ora, BYD Dolphin and, in terms of its expected pricing, the Cupra Born.

Meantime, the Peugeot E-Expert incorporates a 100kW/260Nm motor and (at least in the UK) a choice of 50kWh and 75kWh battery packs providing ranges of 238km and 340km respectively.

Rivals for the zero-emissions load-lugger will include the inbound Ford E-Transit Custom, LDV eDeliver 7 and Mercedes-Benz eVito.
