BMW Australia has dropped the axe on its local XM portfolio and will soon only offer a singular variant in the form of the 2025 BMW XM Label.
Dispensing with the current two-tier model comprising the XM and XM Label Red, the revised line-up will consist of only the mid-spec XM Label as of late Q4 this year with the announcement coming in tandem with the global debut of the updated XM.
The new model will start from $309,900 plus on-road costs – some $34,000 less than its predecessor – but retain its formidable 550kW/1000Nm 4.4-litre V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain along all the associated hardware and capabilities.
The main change of the new model is the increased AC charging power which has risen from 7.4kW to 11kW and in turn yielded a significantly faster charge time (2hr 45 min) for the unchanged 27.5kWh battery pack.
Beyond that, very little has been altered, though there are now a heap of extra personalisation options including paint colour, upholstery colour and a new alloy wheel design.
Standard equipment list therefore read the same as before, with highlights including adaptive suspension, a head-up display, adaptive LED headlights, rear seat comfort pillows, a 20-speaker Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system, merino leather upholstery, carbon trim, massaging front seats, heated steering wheel and front armrests, Comfort Access and heated/cooled centre console cupholders.
“The XM Label will represent the sole variant in the XM line-up as part of a model restructure and bring a new level of personalisation and equipment offering while being positioned at a new price point,” BMW Australia said.
First deliveries are expected to start late in the year.
