The 2025 MINI John Cooper Works (JCW) hot hatch will start from $57,990 plus on-road costs – $1260 less than the previous generation – when it arrives Down Under in the second quarter of next year.
Available in two grades, the above figure applies to the sparser Classic version while the flagship Flavoured variant opens from $60,990.
Whichever you choose, the MINI JCW comes with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 170kW/380Nm and channels all its might to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
MINI says both JCWs can launch from 0-100km/h in 6.1 seconds before topping out at 250km/h.
Instantly recognisable compared to the lesser MINI Cooper S hatch it’s based on, the JCW features a high-gloss-black octagonal grille and a pair of red air intakes that hint at significant improvements in cooling and aerodynamics.
Optional red or black bonnet stripes are combined with LED headlights that sport a JCW-specific horizontal graphic for the daytime running lamps. A rear spoiler is also included, as well as central exhaust exits.
When it arrives in Australian dealers, the JCW Classic will come with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, heated sports front seats, bigger JCW brakes, a heated steering wheel, head-up display, a panoramic roof and a 9.4-inch OLED infotainment that works with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
A JCW body kit and JCW interior styling cues also come standard, as well as a JCW-tuned suspension that gets adaptive dampers as standard.
Upgrade to the JCW Flavoured (+$3000) and you get grippier performance tyres, a driver’s seat with active bolsters, power-adjustment and memory function.
Twelve ultrasonic sensors and four surround cameras provide for the British firm’s latest driver assist tech that includes an adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and autonomous emergency braking (AEB).
Other new tech includes a useful augment reality view for clearer directions and life traffic updates via the sat-nav.
Both the JCW Classic and Flavoured hatches will be sold alongside equivalent Convertibles that cost an extra $7000.
