The petrol version of Jaecoo’s small SUV, the J5, will arrive in June with two variants set to be offered, the cheapest starting from $25,990 drive-away.

Joining the existing EV Summit ($36,990), the internal combustion (ICE) J5 Track starts from $25,990 drive-away while the better-equipped Summits can be had from $29,990.
Both feature a 108kW/210Nm 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that powers the front wheels via a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and consumes an average of 7.5L/100km.
Externally, the new petrols can be distinguished from the EV by their waterfall grille and different style 18-inch wheels.

Standard gear on the Track includes LED exterior lights, grey cloth seats, a six-speaker audio system, keyless entry and start, adaptive cruise, a 360-degree camera, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch infotainment display.
A tyre repair kit is standard for the initial batch of customer cars to arrive, however a temporary spare wheel will phase in to production in coming months.
The Summit builds on the Track’s base with a fixed glass roof (and powered sunshade), powered tailgate, power-adjustable, heated and cooled front seats, black synthetic leather seats, a 50W wireless phone charger, two extra speakers and more.

Jaecoo backs the J5 with an eight-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty, eight years capped priced servicing and a linked eight-year roadside assistance program. Capped price service costs total $3326 over eight years, while services are due every 12 months/15,000km.
With these petrol J5 models arriving from June, Jaecoo can broaden its J5 range beyond the super-popular J5 EV with more affordable ICE options to compete with the Chery Tiggo 4 and the Haval Jolion.
