The 2027 Mitsubishi Pajero will be offered Down Under with the choice of four familiar trim levels: GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR, and up to six variants depending on how many seats you want – at least according to local homologation documents.

Almost perfectly coinciding with the latest teaser, the first Australian details of the new-generation Pajero have materialised via the local homologation process, though anyone hoping for more information on the powertrain or platform will have to wait.
Government approval documents have confirmed the new Paj will be offered here in the same four grades as the exiting Pajero Sport, however six variants have been cleared for local sale.
While the core Pajero Sport lineup comprised the GLX, GLS, Exceed and GSR grades, the GLS could (and still can for now) be had with a ‘Deluxe Option’ which bundled in the Exceed’s leather upholstery, powered front seats and 360-degree camera, creating what used to be known as the GLS Deluxe.

That technically means there were five core Pajero Sports offered at one stage, so it’d be reasonable to expect something similar from the ‘LH’ Pajero since there are six variant codes cited in its ADR approval notice.
However, when you delve into the codes’ composition in fine detail, it becomes apparent the six-variant lineup will primarily be defined by the trim level and seat count: LH3WGUHSDR8-NU4W45, LH3WGUPSDR8-NU4E45, LH3WGUPSDR8-NU4E46, LH3WGUPSDR8-NU4X45, LH3WGUPSDR8-NU4X46, LH3WGUXSDR8-NU4Z46.
Our money is on the range comprising a base GLX five-seater, two – five and seven-seat – versions of the GLS and Exceed, and a flagship GSR seven-seater. Side note, the codes above are in the same order they appear in the documentation and therefore reflective of the eventual hierarchy.
With all the noise Mitsubishi Australia has been making about wanting a Ralliart and/or Raider halo for the Pajero, we wouldn’t be surprised if such a variant surfaced once the core range has found its feet and justifies the investment.
We also wouldn’t be shocked to see the GLX forgo the SuperSelect II full-time 4x4 system – as per the equivalent Pajero Sport – in the name of affordability, and it will be interesting to see if the GSR follows the usual recipe of being a tarted-up Exceed or if it will nab some exclusive hardware like a subtle suspension or tyre upgrade.
The 2027 LH Mitsubishi Pajero will make its global debut in the coming months and enter showrooms this December. Pricing and spec will be announced after its reveal.
