Audi announces sail sponsorships
Audi has run a couple of new sponsorship ideas up the mast...Audi has announced it will sponsor two major events on the Australian sailing calendar.
The German 'bridesmaid' marque has signed "long-term agreements" with Hamilton Island Race Week and Geelong Sail Week.
Speaking at the inaugural Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta last week, Audi MD, Joerg Hofmann, officially announced the sponsorships.
“Our goal in Australia is to be the major partner of competitive sailing events,” Mr Hofmann said.
“We have just signed a long-term agreement to be the main sponsor of Hamilton Island Race Week. Our involvement kicks off this year with Audi as the official car partner, and from 2007, we step up a level, launching Audi Race Week at Hamilton Island,” Mr Hofmann said.
Audi's sponsorship of the Geelong event will also kick off in 2007.
Audi has a history of sponsoring sailing events in Europe. Locally, it currently sponsors the Audi Sydney Harbour Regatta and recently supported the national Audi Etchells Championships in Melbourne.
