It's testament to the broadening appeal of the Audi brand in Australia that the importer has just opened another dealership -- this time in the Queensland community of Cairns. Only last week, the importer opened a new dealership in Parramatta, west of Sydney. Properly speaking, the new facility in Cairns was also officially opened last week, on Friday.
Unlike the Sydney premises, the Audi Centre Cairns is based on the company's 'Hangar' style, reserved for greenfield sites in regional locations. Measuring 360 square metres and located at 303-309 Mulgrave Road, the new premises boasts an eight-car showroom and four-bay workshop.
"This new showroom highlights the Audi brand's 'Vorsprung durch Technik', or innovation through technology. It is a complete 'one stop shop' for Audi buyers in Cairns," said dealer principal, Alan Baxter.
"Australia is one of the fastest growing markets in the world for Audi and that is reflected here in Cairns where we have built up an experienced team of Audi sales and aftersales staff, and we have achieved the number 1 position for the past two years -- which we intend to maintain.
"The growth of Audi in North Queensland has been phenomenal and we are confident the brand has an exciting future in the region."
Audi has recorded five consecutive years of sales growth across the country since 2004. In 2010 the company remains ahead of last year's sales tally (8251 cars versus 6554 last year) by 25.9 per cent -- in a market that has grown by 15.6 per cent during the same period.
