Audi Le Mans set for production as R8
Audi's Le Mans quattro concept will go into production as the R8, named after the all-conquering race cars. And Audi Australia says Ian Thorpe may be first off the blocks...Olympic megastar Ian Thorpe may be one of the first Australians to splash out on Audi's just-confirmed R8 … if the production version of the Le Mans quattro concept eventually comes here.
A long-time Audi fan -- and one of the marque's high-profile "ambassadors" in Australia -- Thorpe likes his performance cars, and lists the RS4 as one of his favourites.
Audi Australia public affairs manager, Anna Burgdorf says Thorpe fell for the concept version when it was first shown at the 2003 Frankfurt motor show.
