Audi Q3 shifts downmarket

New 1.4-litre variant opens the door to Q3 range at $42,300
Audi's Tiguan-based Q3 is now more affordable, with the prestige brand announcing a new entry-level model for the range in Australia.
As we reported last month, the 1.4-litre TFSI variant has dropped in at the base of the range, below the previous entry-level Q3 (the 2.0 TDI quattro) and Audi has today confirmed it is officially on sale here.
Priced at $42,300, the Q3 1.4 TFSI comes as standard with the company's S tronic dual-clutch transmission, channelling the direct-injected and turbocharged engine's 110kW/250Nm output through the front wheels. Audi claims that the new variant can accelerate to 100km/h from a standing start in 8.9 seconds and the official fuel consumption figure for the car – in combined-cycle testing – is 6.2L/100km.
"This new entry model makes the highly successful Audi Q3 model even more attainable for discerning customers," said Audi Australia MD, Andrew Doyle.
"The Audi Q3's unique combination of sporty performance, sophisticated design and everyday versatility explains why this model has led its segment since it launched in early 2012.
"The high-value package structure allows customers to option the additional features that best suit their needs, and this concept is extended to the new model. Customisation is important part of the Audi brand experience."
Equipped with the same features as the 2.0 TDI quattro model the 1.4 TFSI variant is fitted as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels in a 10-spoke design, reverse parking sensors, leather seat trim, dual-zone climate control, front fog lights, auto headlights/wipers, cruise control, leather-bound multi-function steering wheel, trip computer and Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming.
