Audi's double treat for Geneva

After sending out teasers of its long-awaited TT-RS models ahead of next month's Geneva show official details of the cars have been released.

As expected from the teasers the coupe and roadster both sport an aggressive new look to signal the serious intent that lurks under the skin.

A 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine sits under the bonnet and pumps out 253kW and 450Nm. Audi's trademark Quattro all-wheel-drive system is utilised to get that grunt to the road through a six-speed manual gearbox.

All that combines to launch the TT-RS from 0-100km/h in under five seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 250km/h.

To help keep the car planted to the road the TT-RS is equipped with a new front air vents, rear diffuser and rear wing.

More details of the TT-RS will have to wait until the motor show next week

Meantime Audi has also released information and photos of the new convertible versions of the A5 and S5.

The company confirmed the European model line-up of the Cabriolet will include the 1.8 TSI, two variants of the 2.0 TFSI and the 3.2 FSI petrol engines and the 3.0 TDI and 2.7 TDI diesels.

The S5 will forsake the Coupe's 4.2 V8 unit in favour of the new 3.0 supercharged V6.
