BEIJING MOTOR SHOW: Mazda CX-4 teased

Glimpses of Mazda's China-only SUV-coupe emerge ahead of its Chinese motor show reveal

Mazda has teased its all-new CX-4 ahead of its reveal at this month’s Beijing motor show.

The images, released yesterday, show how close the production version of the SUV coupe will be to the Koeru concept that was shown at the 2015 Frankfurt show.

Positioned between the CX-3 and CX-5, the CX-4 is set to be revealed on April 25 but it won’t be coming to Australia. For now, it will only be available in China.

That could change in the future, according to motoring.com.au’s recent interview with Mazda Australia’s boss, Martin Benders, but not if the small CX-4 substitutes an existing product.

“It’s a good looking car, so why wouldn’t you want it on your forecourt? The issue is you have to figure out how it fits into your line-up.

“[Only] If it’s incremental business, then I’m very interested in it," said Benders.
