Just a few weeks ago Mercedes-Benz Australia announced local pricing of its limited-run Black series C 63 AMG Coupe model. With 380kW, 620Nm of torque and an extreme attitude, the overtly muscular two-door was tagged with a manufacturer's recommended list price of $245,000, excluding delivery costs such as dealer charges and registration.
The car, which is only the third Black Series Benz to be sold in Australia, will go on sale from April 2012 but, if your are hankering for one, don't get too excited – the company has just announced that the complete shipment of 32 locally-bound cars has already sold out. That's about $7,840,000 worth of German machinery right there.
"I can't say I'm surprised but we’re certainly overwhelmed by the quick response," said Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars general sales manager, Richard Emery, who added that the company will attempt to import more of the limited run vehicles.
"We'll continue to work with AMG to secure more vehicles as not only have we sold out of our C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series allocation, but we now have a wait list. At this stage we don't know how many more we can secure, but I know the number of additional vehicles won't be high due to global demand," he said.
In addition to its powered-up engine, the C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series comes with unique body styling, 19-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG sports seats, AMG rear differential lock, and interior enhancements including AMG illuminated door sill panels, keyless-go ignition and a sprinkling of carbon fibre highlights.
Let’s hope local Benz execs put up a good fight to get additional allocations...
