Cupra cars now officially available to order in Australia
Fledgling performance brand kicks off sales as first shipment of stock arrives in the countryVolkswagen-owned Spanish performance brand Cupra has officially launched its Australian sales operation.
From today, Aussie consumers will be able to place orders for the Cupra Leon VZ and VZx hatchback, the Formentor V, VZ and VZx crossover and the Ateca VZx SUV via Cupra’s Australian website, ahead of the first customer deliveries in August.
Additional grades will be available to order from August ahead of customer deliveries from October.
The vehicles will be distributed via nine ‘Cupra Garage’ agent locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Canberra, Adelaide and Perth. Unlike traditional dealerships, the locations are based in busy pedestrian thoroughfares such as shopping centres.
“We have ensured that the online ordering that commences today is complemented by Cupra City Garage and agent locations that deliver high-quality interactions and a seamless purchasing process – including transparent driveaway pricing and three-year scheduled servicing included,” said Cupra Australia director Ben Wilks.
From August, Cupra Australia says it will upgrade its Leon V, Leon VZe and Formentor VZe to MY23 specification, bringing additional equipment along with small increases on MY22 prices announced earlier this year.
“The MY23 CUPRA Leon V, VZ, VZe and VZx upgrade from a 10-inch to a 12-inch touch-screen and replace Dynamic LED tail-lights (scrolling indicators) with Static LED tail-lights, for an additional $400 on VZ, and $500 on VZe and VZx,” Cupra said in a statement.
“A 360-degree camera rejoins MY23 CUPRA Formentor VZx specification, for an additional $500.
“As the Leon V commences in MY23, there is no price change and drive-away [pricing] is TBC.”
In addition to those initial models, Cupra Australia says Leon V, Leon VZe plug-in hybrid and Formentor VZe plug-in hybrid variants will become available to order from August ahead of October deliveries.
The upgrades come as Cupra prepares to deliver significant updates across its three-model range. Those vehicles are likely to land in Australia next year.
All Cupras are backed by a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty and three-year scheduled servicing program.
Cupra officials say towing pre-wiring is now available across the MY23 Ateca and Formentor range at no extra cost. Braked towing capacities are rated at 2100kg for Ateca VZx and 1700kg for Formentor V, 1600kg for VZ, 1500kg for VZe and 1800kg for VZx.
