Detailed specs for Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG

Hard-charging soft-roader will hit 100km/h in 4.8 seconds
Mercedes-Benz has announced full specifications for the GLA 45 AMG – the high-performance variant of the A-Class-based GLA SUV.
Driven by the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder shared with the A 45 AMG and CLA 45 AMG, the scorching GLA produces the same power and torque figures, 265kW and 450Nm. Bolted to the AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Euro 6-compliant engine delivers 4.8-second acceleration for the 0-100km/h sprint, with assistance from the car's 4Matic all-wheel drive system. Yet fuel consumption is rated at 7.5L/100km in NEDC combined-cycle testing.
"The response to the Concept GLA 45 AMG during the world première at the Los Angeles International Auto Show has reaffirmed our decision to launch this new AMG model," said Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG, as quoted in a press release issued today.
"Currently there is no segment growing faster than that of compact SUVs. For Mercedes-AMG it is therefore a logical step to make a dynamic statement in this segment with the GLA 45 AMG. Our new high-performance-SUV not only offers the world's most powerful series-production four-cylinder engine, but also impressively low fuel consumption and emissions figures. Not least on account of the performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, the GLA 45 AMG is a true AMG when it comes to driving dynamics".
The hand-built engine (assembled in the Mercedes-AMG facility at Affalterbach in Germany), discharges through a sophisticated large-bore exhaust system with an electronically controlled flap in the rear muffler to meet the conflicting needs of driving satisfaction and environment. Benz claims that the change from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive is imperceptible, thanks to the multi-plate clutch back that engages and disengages drive to the rear axle, as required.
Riding on 235/45 R19 tyres, the GLA 45 AMG is also available with optional 20-inch alloys. Braking is handled by ventilated and cross-drilled disc rotors for all four wheels, and electronic stability control that operates in three different switchable modes completes the package, providing the right configuration for whatever the driver chooses.
Sports seats are trimmed in a combination of Artico and microfiber with contrasting stitching and complemented by red seatbelts. The leather-bound steering wheel is a three-spoke design with multi-function switchgear and bracketed by shift paddles.
Mercedes-Benz plans to unveil the car officially at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. The GLA 45 AMG will go on sale in international markets from July, and has been confirmed for Australia.
