Powered by the same 2.5-litre TFSI engine found in the TT RS, this high performance concept from Audi boasts flared guards, old-school running boards, illuminated LED roof rails and a lazy 234kW.
The Q3 Vail, as it's known, is a winter-themed concept offering exterior and interior changes that include induction-warmed drink flasks, ski boot dryers and heated cushions among its long list of options and accessories.
The concept follows the Q3 '228TFSI' prototype driven by motoring.com.au in Switzerland last year, but with changes to track and ride height. Aimed at snow bunnies and boarder boys the all-wheel drive Q3 Vail is finished in a vivid 'Energy Red' exterior colour with gold pearlescent highlights and adds matte grey quartz-based paint to its add-on parts.
Inside, Vail is upholstered with steel grey nappa leather and topped with black leather highlights across the instrument panel with contrasting titanium grey stitching. A special, offroad orientated MMI and sat nav system is also fitted to the concept model.
Riding on 20-inch alloys and offroad tyres, Q3 Vail runs a wider track (+40mm) than its standard sibling while also riding higher by 33mm.
Like the TT RS, Audi Q3 Vail’s 2480cc turbocharged five-cylinder engine is finished with wrinkle red valve cover but boasts an offroad focussed air intake and added plastic trim to prevent mud or snow from caking the engine bay. The acoustic liner under the bonnet is embroidered with; you guessed it, "Q3 Vail".
Audi claim a 0-100km/h time of 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 263km/h.
