Driverless Audi AI.me city car teased

Audi has followed up design sketches of the Audi AI.me concept with its first picture tease of the car it will pull the drapes off on April 15 at the Shanghai motor show.

Created as the German car-maker's vision of a fully-autonomous city car of the future, from earlier sketches the Audi AI.me concept looks a little reminiscent to the old all-aluminium A2 supermini.

In reality, it's pod-like styling and stripped back minimalist cabin cater for a fully driverless shuttle.

That said, the concept does still feature a half-circle steering wheel – necessary as its Level 4 autonomous driving aids still require human supervision and the occasional override in tricky situations.

When it's revealed in the next few days, Audi will no doubt detail the advanced new Artificial Intelligence that has been incorporated into the small city car – hence the 'AI' part of the AI.me name.

It's thought the AI.me will come with advanced self-learning software that means the more it drives around the city you live the better it becomes at driving itself.

Stay tuned because yet another tease of the Audi AI.me concept is expected in the next few days before its full unveiling in Shanghai.
