Five cars with built-in fridges for those who love a snack on the go

A car with a built-in fridge sounds like a thing of make-believe. Using the power of magic (and air conditioning) your car's glovebox or centre console can be transformed with a flick of a switch.

Are you ever driving on a hot summer's day and think to yourself, "I could really go for a nice cold KitKat and a cold can of Coke right now". As you go to grab the KitKat it melts all over your hands and gets smooshed into the seat upholstery and the can of Coke is so warm that it burns your tastebuds off. Well the life-changing car accessory that could change your car snack habits forever, is the built-in car coolbox and fridge.

While you are able to purchase an aftermarket version that plugs straight into the car's 12-volt socket, some vehicles have these chilled bins built right in. Here are five cars that offer drivers and passengers easy access to cooled beverages and snacks on the go.

Toyota Landcruiser Prado

An off-roading juggernaut like the Toyota Prado has heaps of gadgetry and gizmos to ensure drivers and passengers alike are confident, courageous and importantly, comfortable whether they are on-road or off the beaten track. One of these comforts is the centre console which in higher model grades comes with a cool box. You never know when a cold bottle of water, Zooper Dooper or leftover pizza might come to your rescue.

Land Rover Range Rover Sport

The Range Rover Sport is a favourite of Aussie families and Hollywood's biggest stars, and while you may think it's because of its rugged good looks and effortless luxury, it is probably because of this feature. The Rangie Sport comes with a centre console drinks cooler for you to chill your favourite beverages whether that be Sanpellegrino, Fiji water or LaCroix.

Rolls-Royce Ghost

Now, this is a fridge very much for the rear passengers and not for the driver. The Rolls-Royce Ghost is steeped in luxuries and high-quality materials which will make any passenger feel like they're seated in first class. An option to the Ghost you can tick is a champagne fridge complete with accompanying flutes. Cheers to the luxurious life sweetie!

Skoda Superb

Skoda is known for their 'simply clever' features from smart storage to hidden umbrellas in doors, so finding a cool box in your centre console shouldn't be a surprise. The Skoda Superb features this nifty feature which can be adjusted by a dial, pumping the AC through the console and chilling drinks and nibbles too.

carsales own Ali Lawrence took to Instagram Reels to show off this cool feature that many people didn't even know existed.

Nissan Patrol

Just like in its arch-rival, the Nissan Patrol also flaunts a cooled centre console making sure all off-roading adventures are within arm's length of a cooled beverage. Navigating rocky terrain, river crossings and taking the kids to and from weekend sporting commitments is hard work, so treat yourself to an icy cold can of soft drink!
