FRANKFURT MOTOR SHOW: Concept IAA teased

Mercedes-Benz has released the first image teasing its Frankfurt motor show star.

Dubbed Concept IAA, the vehicle is tipped by some to be the company’s first shot in a battle to take on Tesla as ‘the’ electric car brand.

IAA is the acronym for the Frankfurt show, but in this case the three letters stand for Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile.

Rumoured to be a full-sized four-door coupe, the car-maker has been extremely tight-lipped regarding the vehicle. Even insiders have been spared details of Concept IAA.

The vehicle will be unveiled at Mercedes’ show eve soiree early Tuesday morning Australian time.

Mercedes-Benz normally dubs production-ready show cars with the ‘Vision’ tag. That Concept IAA is minus the title suggests it is a pure concept – perhaps telegraphing a new styling language for the world’s oldest car-maker. The rest of the Concept IAA story is, at this stage, guesswork.

Mercedes-Benz is expected to release at least one more image of Concept IAA, early Sunday morning.
