GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Mercedes-Maybach shows off facelifted S-Class

Mercedes-Maybach has released pictures of a revised version of its S-Class ahead of its launch at next month's Geneva motor show.

Said to have drawn styling clues from the breath-taking Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 that was unveiled back in 2016 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the German brand's latest large limousine gets a restyled grille, a redesigned set of rims and new interior options.

Of course, the most attention-grabbing feature of the latest updates will no doubt be the new two-tone exterior paint.

Mercedes-Maybach says its refreshed S-Class will come in the choice of nine different combinations that each have a double clear coat (applied by hand), giving the paint an even more lustrous finish.

All models will now also come with new 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as the option of three other new rim designs.

Inside, wealthy buyers can now option two additional interior colour combinations - Armagnac brown with black and Savanna beige with black.

Stitching for the soft premium leather, meanwhile, comes in the additional choice of copper, cold, and platinum.

Mercedes-Benz has already declared its new S-Class a sales success with over 250,000 delivered in just three years. So popular is Daimler's Maybach-badged Rolls-Royce and Bentley rival that last year one in every 10 S-Class models made was a Maybach version.

Under the bonnet, the 463kW 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 remains unchanged.

The 2018 Mercedes-Maybach S 650 will become available to order at the Swiss show, but it's not known when the updated cars will arrive Down Under, where the current model costs $425,000.
