Hyundai Palisade gets a refresh for 2024

Eight-seat large SUV gets a new flagship and more gear for the new model year

Australia’s Hyundai Palisade model range has been given a pull-through for 2024 with a couple of equipment tweaks and the renaming of the flagship version from Highlander to Calligraphy.

And as with just about every model year update these days, the updated large SUV’s retail prices have increased – but only marginally, with the entry-level Elite now starting from $66,800 plus on-road costs (+$900), the Calligraphy from $75,900 plus ORCs (+$935) and the styled-up Calligraphy Black Ink from $76,900 plus ORCs.

All grades still come with the option of a 3.8-litre petrol V6 or a 2.2-lite turbo-diesel four, the latter of which commands a $4000 premium over the former on account of its standard all-wheel drive and eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (versus eight-speed torque converter auto).

No changes have been made to either powertrain or the Palisade’s exterior design for the new model year, but Hyundai has added more equipment across the board.

For the base Elite, this includes eight-way power seat adjustment for the front passenger, a heated steering wheel, cargo area carpet mat?, wood-look trim, melange knit headlining and deluxe alloy scuff plates.

The Calligraphy meantime scores hydrophobic front door glass, acoustic laminated rear door glass? and haptic climate controls, whereas the main selling points of the Calligraphy Black Ink are its darkened exterior design cues, black suede upholstery and matching headliner.

These darkened touches can only be had in tandem with either a white or black body, giving customers the option of a contrasting panda look or the full Darth Vader experience depending upon their tastes.

“2024 Palisade builds on the renowned appeal and value of our flagship large SUV with the contemporary new Calligraphy Black Ink variant and additional standard features across the range,” Hyundai Australia CEO Ted Lee said.
