INEOS Grenadier arrives in Australia

First local example of all-new hard-core 4x4 off-roader spotted in Melbourne

The INEOS Grenadier has arrived Down Under. The very first example of the Brit-based ‘fit for purpose’ 4x4 off-road wagon to land in Australia was spotted this morning at Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport in Melbourne.

It appears the Austrian-registered but right-hand drive Grenadier wagon is a pre-production test unit. Images of it were posted on a private INEOS Grenadier owners’ group on Facebook just a few hours ago.

INEOS has tagged Australia as a key export market for the Grenadier in both wagon and dual-cab form since the very early stages of the project.

It’s expected the first production units will arrive Down Under in late 2022. In July, the company, dubbed a passion project of British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe by some, unveiled the heavy-duty 4x4’s interior as part of its ongoing reveal of the Grenadier.

It’s expected INEOS will eschew a traditional automotive dealer sales model when it launches in Australia. Commercial executives within the company have already flagged the Grenadier may be sold by agricultural machinery dealers, off-road specialists or 4x4 accessory makers.
