INEOS launches Arcane Works bespoke division

INEOS is following in Land Rover’s tyre tracks by launching its own bespoke SVO division called Arcane Works, encouraging owners to personalise their Grenadier wagon and Quartermaster ute.

Set to launch its first creation in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Arcane Division will tackle not only body colours and interior trim but enable owners to extract more performance from the Grenadier’s BMW-sourced petrol and diesel inline six-cylinder engines.

There’s no word yet how much it will cost to give your INEOS off-roader the Arcane Works treatment, but commercial director George Ratcliffe said “the vehicles will be so unique as to be rarely spotted in the wild”, suggesting a high price tag.

“Arcane Works is intended to create a truly individual 4x4, hand finished with exclusive materials and personalised touches by specially curated craftsmen,” Ratcliffe said.

“We know this is something our customers have been looking for and working in small batches means we can give them a genuinely custom-made experience.”

It’s not known if the ultimate direction of Arcane Works will be enhancing the off-road capability of the Grenadier or if it will focus on making the Grenadier a more luxurious rugged 4x4 alternative to the leather-lined Mercedes-AMG G 63.

Luxury car brand Bentley has found its Mulliner bespoke division a valuable profit-boosting asset.

Since it launched in 2019, more than 70 per cent of all new Bentleys sold now get some degree of Mulliner options, helping boost the British brand’s profit almost 10-fold compared to when owners simply ticked the box for options they wanted on their Bentayga or Flying Spur limo.

Arcane Works will also work with other companies to develop a range of limited-editions based on the Grenadier and Quartermaster that help showcase its abilities.

Earlier this month, for example, INEOS released details of its new Grenadier 1924 Limited Edition that celebrates 100 years of the clothing firm Belstaff.
