Lotus has announced it will pay tribute to the famous Esprit S1 that guest starred in The Spy Who Loved Me James Bond movie with a one-off limited-edition version based on its Evora Sport 410.
Featuring a bespoke colour scheme and interior, the special Evora is the work of the small British sportscar maker's in-house personalisation department, Lotus Exclusive.
Featuring a colour coded bumper, a one-piece carbon-fibre tailgate painted white and 'Evora' graphics that use the Esprit S1's original font, inside, the fast Lotus matches the original’s red and black tartan interior.
Under its rear boot lid the standard Evora Sport 410's 306kW/410Nm Toyota-sourced supercharged 3.5-litre V6 remains untouched.
That means the special Evora will hit 100km/h in just 4.2 seconds and top out at 305km/h.
Thought to have been created for the British market, it's not known how much more Lotus will charge for the one-off commemorative car. In any case, it's believed to carry a healthy premium over the $199,990 (plus on-road costs) we pay for the Evora Sport 410 in Australia.
One of the original Esprit S1 submarines that was used in the movie was sold to Tesla owner Elon Musk in 2013 for $940,500.
Back then the Paypal billionaire claimed he would turn the film prop into a real, submersible vehicle powered by his pure-electric car technology.
Commenting on the launch of the non-submergible Evora Sport 410, Lotus boss Jean-Marc Gales said: “So many of us recall the impact of the Lotus Esprit when it hit the big screen in The Spy Who Loved Me, and we wanted to honour that with a special Evora Sport 410.
"It’s the perfect tribute to such an influential Lotus, but a world away in terms of its abilities and performance.”
