Mercedes-Benz Australia has revealed local pricing and specification details for the new Mercedes-AMG A 35 hatch and sedan.
Making them the cheapest Mercedes-AMG models available, the A 35 4MATIC warm hatch will be in showrooms by September priced from $67,200 before on-road costs, while the A 35 sedan will arrive the following month, priced from $69,800 (plus ORCs).
Both AMG models are powered by Benz’s gutsy 225kW/400Nm 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine with AMG exhaust system, matched exclusively to AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive.
Combined with a RACE-START launch control function, this makes them capable of 0-100km/h acceleration in a claimed 4.7 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h.
Also upping the ante over the A 250 AMG hatch ($54,800 plus ORCs) are four-pot brake callipers up front, adaptive dampers and additional body components such as an aluminium plate bolted to the underside of the engine to increase body stiffness.
Both Mercedes-AMG A 35s sport all of the latest technologies in the new A-Class, including Benz’s MBUX infotainment system and two 10.25-inch digital displays, plus an AMG performance steering wheel with LCD finger-touch controllers on either side, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control and two-tone Lugano leather seat trim.
Owners wanting their A 35 to be extra special can opt for an Edition 1 package (available on hatch variants for a limited time only) which adds ‘Tech Gold’ highlights over a Denim Blue paint finish, plus AMG Performance seats in black and grey with polished aluminium trim, 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels and an AMG aerodynamics package, for an extra $6990.
