Mercedes-Benz has launched what it describes as a ‘transportable wallbox’ that’s been created to boost charging efficiency for all its electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
Dubbed the Flexible Charging System Pro, the new all-in-one charging solution is said to be capable of topping up EVs and PHEVs at up to 22kW.
The portable wallbox monitors charging temperatures, features embedded safety functions to ensure the safest charging possible and is capable of detecting whether the power source is household, three-phase or a public charging station.
The mobile wallbox is also leak-proof, waterproof and has even been designed to survive brief submersion in water.

To keep it relevant, the charger can be updated using over-the-air software updates, while the charging process itself can be monitored remotely using the car-maker’s app.
The current power and charging time can also be communicated directly to the app.
Some of its other new features include the ability to adjust energy targets and charging costs, which can be stored and saved to help owners calculate their average running costs.
Weighing just 5kg, the new Flexible Charging System Pro is priced from £715 ($A1380) in the UK and will be initially available in the EU, UK and Switzerland, before being rolled out to other markets.
