MG Motor Australia has launched its limited run U9 Black Edition, arriving in Australia ahead of any other market, with – as its name suggests – a host of black styling accents.

The MG U9 Black Edition is now available as a limited-edition variant, slotting in below the flagship U9 Explore Pro as a tougher-looking ute but without any mechanical changes.
The most obvious additions include blacked-out exterior detailing across the grille, MG badging, wheel caps and side trim, alongside a stamped tailgate design.
Inside the cabin, black headlining and pillars to create a more upmarket cabin ambience.
And while power comes from the same 2.5-litre turbo-diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic, the Black Edition introduces a new Towing Cruise Control, which MG says provides greater confidence when hauling.

Carryover equipment includes heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, premium infotainment, and an electric-opening tailgate with an integrated drop-down step and built-in cup holders.
MG Motor Australia marketing director Dimitri Andreatidis says the new variant comes as a result of customer feedback.
"Since launching the MG U9, we've seen strong interest from Australians looking for a ute with a more distinctive look and premium feel. The Black Edition was developed in response to that demand, bringing together the capability customers expect with exclusive styling that gives the vehicle even greater presence on the road."
The MGU9 Black Edition is available now in strictly limited numbers through MG dealerships nationwide.
Its arrival broadens the diesel ute line-up to four variants, while MG's forthcoming U9 EV will further expand the range with a battery-electric alternative.
