Mitsubishi in fraud drama

News Corp paper hints that irregular business practices led to key executive's sudden death

The unexpected death of Greg Cook, Director of Sales for Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd (MMAL), on Friday of last week follows an internal investigation initiated by the importer, a News Corp publication has reported today.

According to the report, Mr Cook (pictured) had been questioned by the company with regard to allegedly inflated sales numbers for McGrath Mitsubishi, based in Liverpool, south-west of Sydney.

It's understood that the irregular business practices may have cost MMAL a sum of money in the range of tens of thousands of dollars. MMAL reportedly will not be taking any action against a sales person employed by Automotive Holdings Group, the owner of McGrath Mitsubishi. The inflated sales numbers have had no impact on official VFACTS figures, which are based on new-car registrations.
