Mitsubishi has been drumming up some new interest in the Lancer small car lately with its Lancer ACTiV special edition. Now, hot on the heels of that limited-run model comes the Outlander RX, a limited edition model that benefits from a high level of specification and also serves to revitalise interest in the compact SUV.
Based on the entry-level Outlander LS and powered by a 2.4-litre petrol engine mated to a CVT automatic transmission, the limited edition RX gains a range of exterior addons, such as 18-inch alloy wheels, a restyled front apron with integrated fog lights, and new-look side skirts and rear air dams.
Together with privacy (tinted) glass, a chrome exhaust pipe and silver door handles, the new Outlander RX "is a stylish new vehicle offering exceptional value for money," reads Mitsubishi's media statement.
Priced at $38,475 before dealer or government charges are added, the Mitsubishi Outlander RX also benefits from a number of interior upgrades, including Bluetooth 2.0 functionality and leather/sports mesh seat trim.
A smart key with keyless entry and operation is also standard on the RX model and silver coloured floor console and interior door handles further differentiate the model from its siblings.
"This attention grabbing vehicle offers great street presence, drivability and functionality," said Paul Unerkov, the vice president of brand and marketing at Mitsubishi Motors Australia, adding that the Outlander RX was in a class of its own.
Only 500 units of the limited edition Outlander RX model will be made available for sale, which will include the usual Outlander safety and driver aids, such as a 4WD System, dual SRS airbags, ABS, EBD, active stability and traction control hill start control.
The Outlander RX will only be offered in three colours -- black mica, cool silver and white pearl.
