Caterham, Morgan, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz will all put in an appearance at Motorclassica a little over two months from now.
Mercedes-Benz is keeping its cards close to the chest about what it will show at the classic car show, sponsored by the RACV and the City of Melbourne, but Jaguar has made no secret of the new F-TYPE convertible and the XFR-S taking pride of place on their patch of floor space. The venue, Melbourne's Royal Exhibition Building, will also play host to Caterham's range-topping CSR 175 and the Morgan 3 Wheeler over the weekend of October 25 to 27. It's anticipated the 3 Wheeler will be ADR-approved, and Morgan will also display a Plus 4 model at the event. And Lamborghini Melbourne will also be in attendance, marking the 50th anniversary of the famed Italian brand with a display combining current models with those from the past – ranging from a 400GT from the 1960s to the latest Aventador.
"Manufacturer involvement like this is a significant step for Motorclassica and reflects both the quality and credibility of our event, and that there is no longer an annual motor show to display their latest models," said Motorclassica Event Director Paul Mathers, as quoted in a press release.
"Motorclassica attracts an informed and engaged crowd, and uniquely provides a platform for manufacturers to both display their latest wares and draw on their heritage, in a way that really enhances their brands.
"I'd also suggest that Motorclassica will offer a very hands-on experience for enthusiasts and potential buyers, they'll be able to sit in the cars or on the motorcycles, touch and feel them and engage with manufacturer representatives who understand the vehicles and importantly the brand back story."
Interesting to note, Mathers claims that the event is close to confirming another booking from an automotive brand making a return to the Australian market – a brand that previously sold cars in Australia. On top of that, other car companies are apparently interested in participating. For this year's event over 150 cars and motorcycles are expected to be on display, with a further 200 outside the building. An auction on the Saturday night will comprise 30 of the most valued vehicles.
