The former corporate entity 'DaimlerChrysler Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd' is now 'Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd'.
It's a ripple on the far side of the world following the big splash that took place when Cerberus Capital Management purchased the Chrysler component of DaimlerChrysler earlier this year (more here).
Although there's still some intertwining of the new Mercedes-Benz division in Australia with the Chrysler Group, the two companies are fundamentally going their own way.
Some resources remain shared between the two companies and both are co-located in the Melbourne suburb of Mulgrave, but Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific is now an umbrella for Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, smart, Freightliner, Sterling and Fuso brands alone.
The change of corporate identity takes effect from December 1, 2007 and the new entity also retains control of the finance and insurance arm, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Australia Pty Ltd, formerly DaimlerChrysler Financial Services Pty Ltd.
