Next-generation 2025 Nissan Patrol teased

Nissan’s Y63 Patrol draws closer to production as LandCruiser rival previewed alongside three other new SUVs

The hotly-anticipated seventh-generation (Y63) 2025 Nissan Patrol is drawing ever closer to production, with the Japanese car-maker’s incoming new 4x4 off-road flagship included in a teaser image shown during a presentation overnight.

The Y63 Patrol, which was recently caught testing without camouflage as its global debut draws near, was included as one of four still-secret all-new models previewed during Nissan’s Q1 (Japanese financial year) address to investors.

The others are believed to be the Patrol’s North American twin, the Nissan Armada, along with a new Murano and a mystery small SUV.

During the address, Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida didn’t explicitly name all four cars under drapes, but given the next Patrol shares similar proportions with the closely related Infiniti QX80, it’s easily identifiable.

The second giant SUV (second from the right), meanwhile, is a dead ringer for the next-generation Armada, while the more rakish SUV to the furthest right is almost certainly the all-new fourth-generation Nissan Murano.

What’s less clear is the smaller SUV lurking in the background, with some suggesting it could be the first outing of the all-electric Nissan LEAF SUV, or the smaller JUKE EV that’s slated for release during 2025.

Nissan has struggled in the first quarter of its 2024 financial year (April to July), with profits slumping by an alarming 99.2 per cent to just ¥995 million ($A10m).

The car-maker hopes its incoming new models will turn around profits, however its production forecast has slipped from 3.7 million car this financial year to 3.65m and its total operating profit is expected to be ¥500 billion ($A5b) – $A1b less than originally forecast.
