As part of the initiative announced locally October last year Pandora is increasing the brand penetration of the internet radio streaming application.
Ford with its SYNC infotainment and Holden with MyLink already feature an integrated Pandora as part of the package; now Toyota has joined the party, starting this month.
Vehicles equipped with Toyota Link infotainment systems will be able to provide in-dash integration of Pandora to Bluetooth connected smartphones.
The streaming data still utilises the phone owner's telco data plan, but instead of fiddling with the phone, Toyota Link will provide controls to the driver and passenger via the in-car infotainment system.
"The integration with Toyota was designed to ensure that consumers' hands are kept on the wheel and eyes stay on the road, giving music lovers safe and effortless access to their preferred music in one of the most natural listening environments," said Rick Gleave, Director, Business Development ANZ, Pandora.
"More Australians choose to buy a new Toyota than any other brand. The addition of the Pandora application to our existing connected mobility app suite will further enhance the driving enjoyment for our customers," said Michael Elias, Corporate Manager, Product Planning, Toyota Australia.
"Consumers have an increasing expectation for in car connectivity and seamless app integration. Through our partnership with Toyota, Pandora is excited to be able to provide the lion's share of Australian motorists with intuitive technology enabling them to enjoy their favourite music anywhere," Gleave said.
